Gerai Mak Siti - Eating Clams/Escargot etc (review)

The night before the last day of puasa, we were in Nibong Tebal (hubby's side) and my FIL took us out to the famous Gerai Mak Siti.

Gerai Mak Siti is situated at Kampung Sg Setar and their specialty is their boiled shelled seafood. Here you will get 6 types (or more) of seashells which are boiled and then eaten with their special sauce dip.

Here is the combo platter. Unfortunately only these types of shells were left (only 4 types).

Can you spot the long pretty shell? The ones found on the beach? Yup EDIBLE!
A bit tricky to get them out but quite yummy.

Siput duri

And yes, that's a siput b*bi too!! The flesh on these ones are huge and chunky! I only tried on though.

Honestly their dipping sauce is what makes the dish. Without it, I would never eat those sea shells.
With the sauce, we managed to clean out 3 of those platters! The sauce is sweet and slightly spicy topped with chopped peanuts (sorry forgot to take a pic).

What an experience that was eating those shelled seafood! And I am happy to report that my tummy was A-Ok the day after!

Do note though that they are only open during fasting month from 8pm to 2am. Will defo drop by again!!Can't wait for next year!!

Grand Hyatt thirty8

A few weeks back, lil sister was in town for a meeting/course so we decided to have lunch together! To celebrate her belated birthday, she requested that we go to Grand Hyatt for lunch. Amboiiii hehehe Demand Ye?? But lunch with her is such a rarity so i obliged.

Loved the ambiance of the restaurant and the view from the 38th floor of KL was stunning. Would have been even more breathtaking at night.

We both ordered from the Thai menu.
Tom Yam and rice for her and Pad Thai for me.
The food was ok je la for me. Teerah has been there before and their western menu is nothing to shout about either.

We were really here for the DESSERT!!

THE FRESH FROM THE OVEN CAKE (not the signature cake!)
Chocolate Lave cake, drizzled with cream, topped with raspberries along side a raspberry sorbet!

OMG!! TO DIE FORRR!!! TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Review - Samba Brazilian Steakhouse @ Avenue K

Last Saturday night we went out to Samba Brazilian Steakhouse to celebrate my lil sister's birthday.

An interesting concept, their waiters walk around with the meat skewers and cut them onto their plate for you.

Come savour the rich taste of Brazil with over 15 different types of meat on offer. Served personally at an interval of 5-10 minutes buffet style, it is sure to be the new favorite joint for meat lovers in the Klang Valley.

They also have a small range of buffet to compliment their main dishes (ie the meat skewers). The buffet is quite small. Their dessert only had fruits and a chocolate fondue. Their mains include a seafood paella, fried rice, some pasta and chicken pie. A salad bar is also there which is next to their cold seafood spread which includes oysters, crabs, mussels and prawns.

My personal faves were the meat sprinkled with cheese and the SQUID (so beautifully marinated!).
Their meats were all so very tender! They also had rack of lamb, black pepper beef, chicken sausage and much more that I couldn't remember. Unfortunately, we had to wait a while for the squid to come around again and when they did, they only gave one or two per person!! So for the price that we paid RM89++ per person I would have rather that they served the squid on the buffet so that we could eat that to our hearts contents.

Here's a little video of the place.
