Aaman's birth story

9th Nov - Baby's EDD

Went for our check up with Dr. Micheal as Dr. Suhaiza is on leave for Thaipusam.
Baby is OK and he asked if I felt anything? Nope nothing. So he said "We'll just wait for Dr. Su to come back"

So after the check up, Kimi had to go to work so I asked him to drop me off at Nu Sentral. Went shopping there and walked around A LOT in the hope that it would induce labour. When I got home my feet were so sore so I asked the maid to massage them. It has been said that massaging feet (ankle specifically) would induce labour.

10.30 pm : First show of blood

That night, as I got ready for bed suddenly I felt a wetness. When I checked, it was blood! I know that it may be a while until I actually gave birth so I wanted to wait at home until the morning perhaps. But when I peed, a clump of blood came out. I wasn't sure that was normal or not so we headed off to the hospital.

11.00pm ; Headed to the hospital and started feeling mild contractions

10th Nov

12.00am - arrived at the hospital

Once we got to the hospital, they wheeled me straight to the labour room.

12.45am - VE 0.5cm

Then the midwife did a VE and oh my did that hurt!! All my previous VEs with Dr. Su, I didn't feel anything but this time it hurt so bad! The mid wife said that I have a 0.5cm opening so it will be a while. She said I could come back later or stay but we decided to stay. Contractions getting stronger.

04.00am - woke up bleeding, put on CTG

I was in and out of sleep and at 4am more blood. They hooked me up to a CTG to monitor the contractions and the baby.

10.00am

Dr. Micheal came in and he did another VE. And boy that hurt even more! I am now open at 3cm, but his head was still a bit high. He also proceeded with breaking my water bag.

12pm

I was pretty sure and scared that I won't be able to handle the pain so I know that I wanted epidural. I wasn't going to try to be a hero so at 12 my epi came. It took a while to go in as apparently I had a thick layer of fat on my back!! He used the longest needle (8cm) and it went ALL THE WAY IN! The anest kept asking if I had put on a lot of weight and kept saying that I had a lot of fat. Not the kind of thing you wana hear before giving birth!

12.30pm

Dr Micheal came back to check on my progress. Now at 4cm but the head is still high. He said he'll give me a few more hours and hopefully by then I would have good progress and the baby would get lower into the birth canal. Luckily the epi is working now so I didn't feel any contraction pain and when he did the VE.

3pm

Another painless VE and unfortunately no progress at 4cm. The head is also 1cm above to where it is suppose to be (ie still too high) so Dr. Micheal wanted to do an emergency c-section. I have always had it in my head that I shall try for a normal birth but if there are any complications I wouldn't hesitate for another c-sect. So then all the nurses came in to prep me for my operation.

3.30pm

Wheeled into the OT and another cut to the tummy. By 3.46pm Aaman was out already! He cried from the moment he was out. Good pair of lungs on that boy! After they cleaned him up, I got to hold him for a few minutes and he cried then too. Then he was taken to the nursery. As the doc started to close me up, I started dozing off in and out of sleep which is mostly the effect from the epidural.

He's OUT

First contact

Luckily this time, Aaman was not in the NICU so he was wheeled into the room with us that evening when the families visited. Alhamdulillah everything went well. Here are a few more pictures of him.

Cebik!

Finally home

Skinny mini soaking up vitamin D

His tiny feet

He has grown quite quickly since then. Now at 3.5 months he has gained 4.4kg and 12 cm.

Having a new baby really does remind you of how grateful you are to the Almighty, to be given this precious gift! Alhamdulillah syukur. Now I am just trying my hardest to treat them and give time to both of them fair and square. Admittedly I am spending more time with Aaman these day as I am breastfeeding but luckily Kimi has been spending extra time attending to Nazrin. Just watching Kimi playing with light sabres and Ninja Turtles with Nazrin, my heart just melt. My boys are super lucky to have him as their dad.

So far Aaman has been a good boy. He usually wakes up once or twice at night for a quick nurse then he goes back to sleep. During confinement when we were staying at mum's he wasnt bothered by loud noises ie his bro and cousin playing and screaming. But now he is more alert and aware of his surroundings so he easily wakes up from his naps. I now avoid taking him out at night as he cannot stay asleep when we are out and that disturbs his sleep time and it also means i can't go out at night. Anyways loving to witness his growth and milestine progress. May he grow up to be a good and soleh son. Amin for Aaman.

Baby bumpin'

Just wanted to compile and share a few baby bump pics =)

No baby bumps here but I was 7 weeks pregnant while my sister was 7 months pregnant
5 months - during Raya

6 months

7 months

8 months

I think this time around my bump started off small and didn't get really big until after about 5 months. From then on, it grew exponentially!

Lucky for me, my water retention wasn't as bad this time around either. I was so big last time that my face and nose swelled up so bad from 5 months onwards. So far, only my ankles get swollen really bad (especially in the evenings)!

And here's a bump pic from the first pregnancy at 32 weeks! #throwback

Chronic Pregnancy Brain

One of the symptoms of pregnancy is "Pregnancy Brain" where one goes forgetful, absent-minded and basically the brain function is not up to its normal capacity!

I had an episode the other day.

I had to write a Board Paper in Malay (yikes!) and it was suppose to be via Circular Resolution.
So then I had to translate Circular Resolution into Malay and upon asking Co Sec what the term would be and she told me. I wrote it down and put it in my paper.

Then my boss came out from his room and said "This sounds like a street!! Are you sure?!!"
Guess what I wrote down??

When I looked back on my notes, I clearly wrote down RESOLUSI PEKELILING but somehow my brain typed out PERSIARAN instead!!!

The next morning on the way to work, at the roundabout where I usually fire up my Waze to check the traffic, this came up!!

Persiaran Pekeliling must have got into my sub-conscious since I see it on my screen every morning hence the little mishap with my Board paper!!

Cheap baby shopping websites

You would think that not much shopping is required for the second baby? But when the mummy is a shopaholic, it's a different case altogether.

Apart from most of the clothes which would be a mixture of hand me downs from the elder brother or the nephew, the rest of the stuff I wanted to buy new. We have bought a new car seat and stroller (Nazrin warned that we had to buy a new car seat and stroller for baby brother), diaper bag (I didn't even have one last time!), cot and mattress (the old cot was stored in the store which was a bit moist so we didn't want to use a mouldy cot so bought new one at Ikea).

I thought I'd share a few websites that I have been buying from.

For my sister's baby shower a few months back, I bought her a Bebe au Lait Muslin Nursing Cover.

I wanted this specific one as the muslin material is supposed to be light and airy. After googling I purchased it from http://www.applecrumbyandfish.com (RM148.29) . However post purchase further research revealed that it was cheaper at http://www.babydash.com.my (can't remember the price and currently no stock) and now of course I wanted one too so I bought mine at http://www.jumpingbabyjacks.com/ (RM126).

So from the price comparison of the nursing cover, applycrumby is at the higher price point while jumpingbabyjack is lowest. Babydash pretty reasonably priced but no stock for this nursing cover.

Here are my list of baby shopping websites with mini short reviews:

http://www.applecrumbyandfish.com - more expensive than other website. Not recommended.
http://www.babydash.com.my - good price, lots of variety of baby products
http://www.jumpingbabyjacks.com - good price, lots of variety and also stock lots of imported brands
http://www.bebetotz.com/ - good price, lots of variety and also stock lots of imported brands, bought my diaper bag from here.
http://onebabyworld.com/ - my friend swears by this website. Great price!

Happy shopping!!!

Dina's Royal Baby

Over the weekend, my best friends threw my a baby shower! It was held at Diana's house so I was expecting a chill out session with the girl friends over lunch and eating some cake.

What I did not expect was a full blown party with an amazing spread of dessert, homemade food and a mani pedi! I felt so loved and blessed to be showered with so much love that day. I still can't get over the fact how beautiful everything was.

1. Dessert table

The decorations were done by @heliumnkonfetti (instagram)
The girls decided on a British Themed Baby Shower and the decorations were amazingly beautiful.

The decorations

The lunch spread were mostly homemade.

Shepherd's pie and fruit kebabs by my sister (I don't know how she managed to cook with 2 kids in tow?!)
Pasta and Potato Salad by Diana
Meatballs by Qilah
Sausages by Nadia
Bread and Egg tarts from Ikmal

The full dessert table

Yours truly with my handsome
2. The cake

The cake for that day was ordered from @gateauxlicious and O.M.G. it was stunning!
The detailing on that cake was just meticulous and beautiful. We were all amazed at how stunning it was. As we had so much desserts already, no one wanted to cut the cake. So I took it home and made sure I took a pic from every single angle of it! The bottom tier was a butter cake (with hazelnut) and choc ganache. The top tier was a dummy cake and the crib was made of gumpaste (?)

My beautiful cake
Bottom tier
Top tier
Thank you so much everyone for ordering my first ever gateauxlicious cake!

3. Manicure & Pedicure

They also called up Nails on Wheels that day.
I was just saying to myself that I needed a manicure as the edges around my nails were hard and peeling. So happy when I saw them upon arrival!!

4. Games

Ann and Paris were the games co-ordinator.
We played 4 games in total and they were so fun!

First we played "What's in the Diaper Bag"
A memory game where you had to repeat what everyone said that is in the diaper bag. Sounds so easy but believe me, it was pretty hard!I won this round! hehe

Then we played draw the baby. Everyone had to draw the baby with their eyes closed.
This is what it looked like! LOL

Third games was Baby's name. They had to list down baby name suggestions that contained the letter N and H (our initials). This was the funniest! Honk? Horn??!!! Thanks but no thanks Nadia. All your suggestions are rejected!

Lastly we played "Name the Celebrity Baby".
I won this games as I am a bit of a celeb gossip queen!
The below answer sheet was funny as they asked for the names of the 6 Brady Bunch but Nadia gave 7. Nampak sgt dia hentam je nama org putih!

Thank you everyone who all organised, made food, organised games for the party.
I am so blessed to have each one of you as my friend and baby couldn't wait to meet you all.
Do pray that everything goes well, and he arrives safely soon. Amin

With everyone!

Thank you! Love you all!

Pregnancy cravings

I haven't have any  pregnancy cravings during the first pregnancy (maybe because hubby wasn't around to layan) but this time around, I sure had a few (not that he yang layan my cravinggs hehe)!

1. Ondeh-ondeh cupcakes
I have been dying to eat this since I saw it on my IG timeline. @cikkiah is the baker and she makes all sorts of malay inspired cupcakes such as this, kek lapis, pengat pisang etc.

So then my friend niza wanted to surprise me and she ordered a box for me and was suppose to bring it when she came over for nazrin's party but she forgot!! So the following week, @cikkiah was selling her cupcakes at klcc and she put in an order for me. At the same time, I ordered a box for myself not knowing that niza AND natte and jid also put in an order for the mak buyung! So i ended up having 2 boxes plus 2 cupcakes to eat. The sozes were small but it was so good that i devoured a whole box in one go!

2. Musang King
During the first pregnancy i could stand durian! My dad panicked at the thought of his grandson not liking during. Luckily nazrin loves it! This time around i love durian and had a craving for it. Totally jumped for joy when daddy bought some!

3. Concealer
Hahaha! This was the weirdest one and this was a few months back.
A friend of mine went to the UK and opened up orders for drug store items and this was one of them. So i ordered it through her and when she got back I tried to arrange to pick it up through her husband. We tried a few times but couldn't co-ordinate the right time and place but then one day I was like "I NEED TO HAVE THIS NOW!!" so that day I drove to his office to pick it up! Love this concealer!! I think the applicator is a major win and it doesn't crease. Wrinkles and lines are still there though but does a perfect job hiding my dark circles!

So what did you crave for during your pregnancy??!

Selamat Hari Raya and reason for hiatus

Hello hello peeps!!!

How is everybody doing?

Firstly I wanted to apologize for not updating lately. I just haven't been feeling up to it and I have a perfectly valid reason!

23 weeks babybump

Alhamdulillah we have been blessed with another child and I will be due in early November!
I can't believe how quickly time has passed and now I only have over 3 months left!! Please pray that everything goes well and the baby is well too.

Ok back to raya, I went back early to Kuala Kangsar to spend 2 days berbuka with my Pah. I haven't seen her for ages so it was nice to be able to spend a few days berbuka with her. On the last day of puasa, we headed to Nibong Tebal to break fast with Kimi's side of the family at his kampung.

The Eid morning was spent with Kimi's family. My family were all in Bangi as my dad took care of his mum (who is bedridden and blind) while the maid is off on her holiday in Indonesia. My younger sister also hasn't quite finished her confinement period so everyone else stayed back in Bangi for the first day. They only went back to KK on the second day where I joined them that night.

Here is our raya family portrait =)

Selamat Hari Raya from the Razaks and the Shamsudins
Well I really hope everyone had a lovely raya with their loved ones coz I sure did!!

Detail Scan and it's a .....

26/6/2015

Went for the detail check up today at 20 weeks and my it was a detailed one indeed.
The sonographer checked the baby's length, kidneys, fingers, toes, heart..you name it!
I was totally impressed to see her check the 4 rooms in the heart, the blood flood within the heart etc.
I don't remember the doctor/sonographer checking all those during Nazrin's time.

We also found out the sex of the baby! I was hoping for a girl obviously. My pregnancy symptoms were slightly different to last time. Like I suddenly really wanted to wear gold, the sickness weren't as bad. So I was hopeful and I even wore a pink tudung on the day of the scan. However it did not work as the sonographer saw his "cuckoo bird" within a few seconds of scanning!

So we're having another boy, InsyaAllah.
I don't mind really, part of me must have know as I kept referring to the baby as a He when talking about him. I just want him to be a healthy and complete boy!

I can't believe I'm halfway through already!!

Conversations with Nazrin #6

Nazrin is fully aware that I have a baby and he is getting either a brother or a sister.
Some mornings, he would get up and look towards my tummy and say "Good morning baby!"

He is also adamant that the baby is a boy!
When asked if he wants a baby brother or a baby sister, he would answer;
N - "I want a baby brother, I DON'T want a baby sister!"
M - "But we don't know yet if it's a girl or a boy, we have to wait until the baby comes out and see"
N - "BUT I KNOWWWW!!"

Super confident! We shall see my boy we shall see! However, over the weekend he suddenly changed his tune and all of a sudden he now wants a baby sister! Make up your mind please!

---------

I was telling him that when the baby comes, he would have to sit in his car seat and baby would sit in his/hers too..then he added

N - "And then we hold hands?"

I think remembered a pic of Arshad and Danial sitting in their respective car seat and holding hands! So cute imagining that!!

----------

Earlier that day I was telling him that later on when the baby is here he would have to help me, make the milk, change the diapers and bathe the baby as well. Then later in the car, I asked him;

M - "Nazrin, if you and baby are in the car at the back and the baby cries, what are you going to do?"
N - "I will make the milkkk, change the diaaaper, mandikan baby...."

I can't wait to see you as Big Brother!

Baby No. 2

4th March 2015

My cycle has been a bit haywire due to the supplements that I have been taking so it was kinda hard to pinpoint when my last P was. A few days before a week I was late, I did a quick test and thought I saw the faintest line. But again I thought maybe it's just me imagining it to be there as I wanted it so bad so I discarded it. Then after a week late, I tried again and I saw a faint line and quickly wrapped it up and fetched Natte'. By the time we got back into the toilet, I opened it up and there it was, a pretty clear second line! Alhamdulillah!!

Wheee so happy beyond words and can't believe that this is finally happening! Surprised as it's only the first full month that we started trying. He was shocked and still is in shock.
