Breakfast Love with F&N Seasons NutriSoy

[Sponsored Post]

I live in Bangi and every morning I commute from Bangi to KL. So I have to wake up super early and leave the house at 6.30am to send my son to his Nani’s (grandma’s) house first and then head to work. Obviously, I have no time to do my hair or make up, let alone have breakfast. So you know what I do? I grab my soya milk and I have that in the car while stuck in traffic. I am one of those people who can’t really stomach the taste of milk so I find that soya milk is a great alternative! After all soya is a good source of protein and it provides all these nutrition with no lactose and can also help to reduce cholesterol. It is low in fat and there are no added preservatives, flavouring and colouring. Give me soya milk over milk anytime!!

So I was overjoyed when I was invited to attend a Cooking Demo hosted by F&N Seasons NutriSoy in conjunction to the launch of their new campaign called Breakfast Love.  At the launch we were introduced to Chef Kenneth who demonstrated 4 easy breakfast recipes that can be eaten together with a glass of F&N Seasons NutriSoy.

For the first 2 recipes, we were divided into 2 teams, 1 team to help prepare the batter for the pancakes and the other is to prepare the batter for the Banana and Walnut Muffin. I have made pancakes before so I was happy to be in the muffin team.

With the other mummies preparing our muffin batter
We helped Chef Kenneth to measure, prepare and mix the ingredients for the muffin. Then after all that was done, the batter was put into the fridge for at least half an hour so that it can “rise” better.
Me piping mixing the batter and then piping it into muffin cups
OMG!! *drooollll*

Don’t’ they look scrumptious?? The muffins were so delicious! Fresh from the oven, it was so soft and yummy!! I am drooling again just looking at the pics!!

Next up were the pancakes. Did you know that you can use soya milk instead of cow’s milk for the pancake batter?? I DIDN’T EITHER!! This pancake recipe uses 2 cups of F&N Seasons NutriSoy milk instead and it tasted even better!! However, I thought that the chef would mix the bananas and choc chips inside the batter but he preferred to put them at the side instead. If it were me, I would chuck everything inside the batter!

The third recipe we tried was the Grilled Chicken Wrap. I must say that THIS is my fave recipe of the day. It is my favourite as it’s the easiest (read: malas! hehe). The Chef was very flexible as he asked us how we wanted to marinate the chicken. So instead of using the recipe we just chucked and splashed the following ingredients:
  •         Lea & Perrins sauce
  •         Lime zest
  •         Thyme
  •         Black Pepper
Chef Kenneth picked me to marinate the chicken and yes I used my (clean!) hand to mix them all up! Marinate that overnight (but we waited for only half an hour) then cooked it on the grill adding salt. Cut the cooked chicken thinly, put that on a wrap. Add some lettuce and mayonnaise…VOILA! A nice healthy breakfast for you!!

I learnt a few tips for grilling chicken from the Chef and these were:
  •         Do not marinate with anything sweet such as honey or sweet soy sauce as this makes your chicken burn. So glaze your chicken with the sweet stuff at the last 5 minutes.
  •      Instead of squeezing the lemon, just use the zest. Using the lemon makes it too sour. Using just the zest makes such a HUGE difference!
  •         Slice the chicken breast so that it’s thin so that it cooks quicker!
The last breakfast idea is the mushroom omelette. Beat 2 eggs and add a pinch of salt and black pepper. Add some sliced mushrooms or anything else you want such as tomatoes or red pepper and onions but remember to add your extras on the pan and not mix them together inside the bowl (another tip from Chef Kenneth!)

Lastly, the easiest of breakfast - Cereal with F&N Seasons NutriSoy! If you’re really push for time, you can eat your cereal with F&N Seasons NutriSoy instead of having it with milk. I am definitely having this at the office for breakfast! No more nasi lemak!!

All the four recipes demonstrated are not only delicious but they go great along side some F&N Seasons NutriSoy!! Yummmssss!! (seriously this blog entry is making me hungry!). You can have anything really together with your F&N Seasons NutriSoy, from french toast to mee goreng! The possibility is endless. So I can’t wait for the weekend to come so that I can cook something for Nazrin and the hubs. You will have to stay tuned to see what I decided to prepare for them!

Thank you so much F&N Seasons NutriSoy for inviting me for the cooking demo. ! I had such a fun time at the cooking demo and it also reminded me how I do enjoy cooking, so I can’t wait to get back into the kitchen!!
